Dianomi Behavioural Finance Series – SYD, OCT 2026

As part of its Behavioural Finance Series Dianomi will be hosting a lunch in Sydney on Wednesday 21 October.
Our special guest will be Jake An, Senior Lecturer, Marketing Discipline Group, UTS Business School. Jake has a PhD in Marketing from UNSW.
Jake will talk us through two of his recent papers which are highly relevant to financial services marketing, followed by Q&A and a discussion over lunch. We hope to answer these two questions:
Should you set larger or smaller investment goals for users who sign up to your finance app?
Is a new client worth more or less if they sign up at the top, or bottom, of the market and how should this affect your media spend?
Jake will discuss two of his recent academic papers:
Increasing App Engagement Behaviors via Goal-Enabling Technology Features:
The Role of Goal Difficulty Dimensions. Do customers who set more (versus less) difficult end goals and subgoals via GETF exhibit greater app engagement behaviors and retention? If so, can firms nudge customers to consider the importance of moderately difficult end goals and subgoals, to further enhance app engagement behaviors and retention?
